Mindfulness ~~~~ Reflections THIS DAY AND EVERY DAY ~~~ OWN IT ~~MAKE IT YOURS!

On every birthday, I have always set aside of time to reflect, to go inside and clean house.
Being mindful of all the wonderful blessings in my life, in these quiet times I find the things that matter the most are not 'things' at all. Just now I was thinking about the Buddhist proverb on my profile "to live and die without regret....." I wrote something I want to share with everyone.

I hope to impart to others the passion I have for living. Sometimes in life we are brought down to our knees, so that we can see our 'needs.' Other times it is best to be still and listen.....that's when we really hear what's being said, and see things with our hearts, not our eyes.

One of my students, who is now a senior, gave me a snow globe when he was in the 6th grade. It held inside a beautiful angel and children looking up to her. He said, "I wanted to give you something beautiful that you could keep forever to remember me. This reminded me of you and how you love us.
I love you, Ms. LaFaye." wow.....I can still see how sincere he was in his innocence and the love in his smile. What meant more was his gift of expression: the honesty of unconditional love that seemed to surround every word he said.

Everyone has held a snow globe.....turned it upside down, shook it up, set it down, and watched the snowflakes falling down to rest. With that in mind, imagine this.......and live each day as if it were YOUR birth day...............~~~hugs 2 u all, Teri LaFaye

Gazing out this globe of life,
snowflakes falling quickly by,
silence follows one then two…
falling, melting out of view.

So much in hours our time is spent
looking outward, not within.
Then, like the globe turned upside down
our hopes in flurries dash around.

Surrounding in a lasting phase
the energy of wasted days,
lives are spent in solitude
while things sought for are held in view.

The life not lived is sorrow filled….
unnoticed -- falling short until…
the globe is shattered, curtains fall
and lives not LIVED weren’t lives at all.
