Live Happier with Mood Boosting Foods
Posted August 25th, 2008 by Nick Jones
Have you ever put yourself in a good mood for no apparent reason at all? Experts from various disciplines now believe that certain foods we eat play a hand in our happiness. Avoid the diet doldrums with these healthy, happy foods:
- Oily fish – Medical research teams believe that sardines, salmon, and other oily ocean foods can bring you up when you’re feeling down
- Asparagus – Probably not what you were expecting, since asparagus gets a bum rap as a boring vegetable. But it’s a natural mood elevator, and as an added bonus, the vitamin E in the veggie increases sex drive and prevents wrinkles!
- Smoothies – Three natural mood boosters are orange juice, bananas, and yogurt (or milk). Try blending them together in a smoothie and enjoy the natural high!

natural foods
that boost your mood includes chocolate-that's DARK chocolate, not MILK chocolate, omega-3's (as in oily fish), and sources of tryptophan including whole-grain cereals, vegetables, fruits, lean meats, and low-fat dairy products. Eating these foods with a carbohydrate, such as potatoes, pasta or rice, can facilitate the brain's intake of tryptophan.
